After talking to some family and friends, I have decided to blog my experience from Washington, D.C. Since I will be in D.C. during an exciting and historical time, there will be plenty to keep you all updated on. So I hope you all check in whenever you can to read about all the crazy experiences I have encountered...
Today marks the 3 week countdown until I leave for D.C. I just finished up the Fall Quarter last week and I'm using the time I have left here in San Diego to wash clothes, clean the pad, and pack my bags for the big move. Somewhere in between all that, I'll be heading up north to Dixon to visit my family and friends for Christmas. However, I will make it back to San Diego in time to celebrate the New Year with the extended family and friends that I have made down here.
Although moving to D.C. for a little while is something I have been looking forward to for a very long time, it's not easy leaving everyone you know and love behind. Which is why I want to mark this milestone of mine with one last celebration before I leave. Since I'll have the opportunity to celebrate with the family and friends back home over the holidays, I want to be able to have the opportunity to celebrate with the family and friends I have made here San Diego as well. Not as a good bye, but as a thank you for the love and support. So my best friend and I will be hosting a party that will be properly themed "America." It seems appropriate since I will be interning at our nation's capitol and hopefully doing some good for the American people. We want to have everyone come together wearing the red, white, and blue as a sign of support for our country and as a symbolic way of marking the beginning of my career in public service.
In 21 days my life as I know it will change forever...in 21 days I'll be knocking at the front door of our nation's capitol with an optimistic vision for America...in 21 days I'll have the opportunity to help President-Elect Barack Obama bring about real change to the American people and to the people around the world...in 21 days I'll see everything I've worked hard for right at the tips of my fingers...in 21 days I will have officially dedicated my life to the good of the American people...and in 21 days patriotism will have a profound new meaning to me...
It's crazy to think how much my life is going to change and how much is at stake in just 21 days.
